FYI,

Starting around Feb 20/21st there have been numerous break-ins and theft at Willowberm Marina. The theives are taking flat panel TV's, food, alcohol and so far one hard bottom dinghy. They are also sleeping on boats as well.

Also there is rumor that B&W had their video security system disabled and many boats cleaned out recently.

If you have not checked on your boat in a while, I would suggest you do so. The Marina has not notified any tenants other than the ones directly affected.

With the current bad economy, I expect more of this. Also they are planning to release more than 60,00 criminals back into the streets. Great.

I am going to Willowberm today and will suggest that they construct an informational newsletter for berthers. The Willowberm incidents have been reported to the Sheriff's Department and if B&W vessels were struck, this is the same jurisdiction. The MO is the same indicating the same group and they will continue until they are caught.

They have the e-mail addresses of the berthers and should have given them a heads up. Also, I'm assuming the thefts took place from the water and not by cars in the Marinia. If not, WB should install locking gates at the entry way to the sheds like all the other Marina's.

Bill, let us know what you find out today. thanks

Boater3500,

All indications show they are coming in via water. They have said there were wet foot prints coming from the back side of the bathrooms at "I" dock area. That bathroom backs up to the Moke river.

I have verified with B&W today that they were hit on Feb 22nd. They came in by boat, turned off the light to the docks and tied or locked the gates to slow anyone coming onto the docks. They only hit the south docks and only a few boats.

The dinghy that was stolen from Willowberm is mine and was recoverd today without the engine and personal effects. It was found on Smith Canal at Moreing Rd. on the levee. This is in Stockton just off of Counrty Club Ave. west of I-5

If anyone comes across a Mercury 15HP 4 stroke with manual pull and electric start with engine serial number 0T216340 contact me through this site or contact Willowberm.

Dave,

I'm sorry to hear about your loss of the OB and personal effects. I hope they find the &%$#rb2@gr5t*'s and string 'em up. Good luck retrieving the 15HP Merc. Keep an eye on Craigslist and site like it.

I did not exchange any information with Willowberm staff. They are working with the Sacramento SO and are considering a variety of security measures. An e-mail was sent this afternoon from WB to all boaters aknowledging the incidents and making a few suggestions. I see that as progress.

Bill

Sorry to hear about the thefts. I have used the Panasonic BL-C30A internet cameras for 2 years at my home and they are pretty reliable. You don't have to keep a PC going they go straight out the wireless gateway router. I have one set to use the builtin infra red sensor trigger and the other to trigger based upon pixel background changes then send the pre and post buffer images to my Gmail account and timeout for 10 minutes, they can really spam you until you get them adjusted. They come with a dynamic DNS service so you can access them remotely. They are pretty expensive $300 and I am not sure they would work with your Marina's wireless; the router needs either plug and play enabled or you can manually enter a static route to get remote access to the camera. There are also $180 electronic watch dogs that bark but those things can go catawampus and turn you into a bad wet berth neighbor in a hurry.
