Greetings HRCC. The Admiral and I have finalized one of our trips this year and we're heading your way. We liked it so much last year, we're going to do it again.

Weather permitting, we'll be at Haverstraw in the afternoon on Sat, Sept 5th and then at the the Roundout Yacht Basin from Sun, Sept 6th through Tues, Sept, 8th. Then we'll be at Haverstraw again on the way home on Wed, Sept 9th.

It's towards the end of the season (kind of), but it's a holiday weekend and we wanted to book early.

Al - Any chance of hooking up with you guys for dinner at Haverstraw again, or maybe by you?

Dan - Are you guys going to be back from your world travels by then, or half way across some ocean? If you'll be back, we'll gratefully accept more beer and relaxation aboard Freedom.

Pete - We never got a chance to meet last summer. Are you going to be around while we're in Kingston?

If there's anyone else by these stops, pls let us know and maybe we can meet up.

BTW, we're planning on stopping at the Vanderbuilt Mansion on the way from Haverstraw to Kingston. The Cruising Guide to NY Waterways says the Hyde Park Marina has a mooring field and we can dink in. Has anyone done the Vanderbilt Mansion Tour? How is it? How long a walk from the marina to the Mansion? Are the poeple at the Hyde Park Marina accomodating for a few hour tie up (I left a message with them the other day but haven't received a call back)?

There's a bunch of us just north of Haverstraw marina in the Stony Point area.

We toured the Vanderbilt mansion many years ago, and I recommend that you do it. I don't know about getting there from the water, perhaps some of our northern brethren can give you advice.

Yo!
I hate to say it but we will not have Freedom at RYB this summer. 2010 is much more likely. If you decide to stop up let us know. As far as mooring at Hyde Park, I have not heard of this but I suspect you may be able to get an overnight slip there and get a cab to the mansion. Ever since the restaurant (Brass Anchor) at the marina burned down we have not been there. Very dissappointing. It might be better to come up to RYB and rent a car for a couple of days? That way you can drive to a few mansions.
Across from Catskill you have Olana, which is probably an hour drive from Kgn.. There is also the Aerodrome in Rhinebeck, and then you have the mansions to the south in Hyde Park. I'd say plan to rent a car and start north working your way south on route 9 until you get to the mid hudson bridge and then drive up north again on 9w. Could be a fun loop in the car.

Hi Bruce,

Ill put the dates on my calander. Hopefully we can get together again. Where going to be moving from Viking boat yard to Cortlandt Yacht Club this season. Will be even closer to Haverstraw Marina this year. Glad your coming back up the river again.
