According to the Town Of Islip anyway. They have decreed that Thursday will now be considered a weekend day at Atlantique and be priced at the higher weekend rate. I only wish that my place of work do the same!

Between the weather this spring being crummy and Sandy damage, Fire Island towns and marinas are losing their minds over how to recover the money they spent to get things back up and running.

So they charge more for the folks that still show up to patronize them? I guess it is no different than any other government agency. Where will they get the money when no one comes anymore?

Thursday has always been a weekend day for congress.

Treat those who do come with greater service in the hopes the word will get out to other boaters...... What a concept!

If the towns dropped their residency docking requirments they would get more visitors.

Is Atlantique open yet?

Its just a money grab. The place does start to fill on thursdays and on many weekends if you are not there by friday evening you are not getting a spot.

same as the free slips in Freeport in Woodcleft canal. $2 per foot to dock now.

Good point, John, Around the noon hour on Saturday, when the weather was turning out better than forecasted, there were no more than 15 boats in the 160 slips.

In their wisdom, the Town has also changed 52 slips to 50A with metered electric. So, now people will be jockeying to stay out of those slips because the 30A slips already have the electric built into the fee. As do the ones with 50A!! So the 50A ones will be charged for electric twice!

Who makes this crap up...…? Oh, I just remember that Pizza is now considered a Vegetable here in America, so we can sell it in our schools to kids. it’s now a Health food. ? By Law anyway...

Jerry, They really put 50 amp in 52 slips? 50 amp service was warranted for the A slips, but how many A slips are there? 52 seems excessive. Most boats that get into a B slip do just fine with 30 amp. How long until they start renting adapters for the unknowing 30 amper who pulls into a 50 amp slip on a packed weekend?

Billy, Bobby said that they did 26 electric "posts" so that would cover 52 slips. We believe that this covers all A slips on the South slips along with some A slips on the West wall, plus some B slips off the sandy area leading up the center spine. So, all of the usual boats in that area will certainly by looking to move inside the east pond.

I love my sunsets from the west wall but I may have to learn to love sunrise from the pond! That's if they go thru with charging extra at the 50 amp slips. I will be sure to bring an adapter.

Does this mean non residents now have to be out on thursday because it's a weekend??
