Tilt Trim Gauge Problem

I have a Sea Ray 260 Sundancer with the Smartcraft System. The Trim Gauge is, whilst running at sea, all over the place going up and down but the leg is not moving. The leg still runs up and down by the button ok though. This is affecting the smartcraft system it jumps from one reading to another. Has any one else had this problem?? Where do I start to look??
 
I had the exact same problem with my '06 260 DA. Frustrating in that you could not see other gauge functions while the trim was dancing all over the place. It would read from 0 to 5 and everything in between. My dealer worked on it twice to no avail. They played with the sensor disc and even replaced it I think. I ended up trading the boat in on a 300 DA.....it has twins and isn't as bad as the 260 but it jumps around a lot too. Wish I had the solution for you. I think it is just a "Smartcraft thing." I hate that whole "all in one gage" junk.
