This has been a crazy weather year! The big question is will we get hit with a late storm or is this Winter a bust.

In the past I have always waited until mid March but I'm thinking I may pull earlier this year. I have a few projects I want to get a jump start on.

When do you plan to pull your cover?

That's what I was thinking but I may still have to wait one additional week just do to the fact I'm busy next week.

Better hit the gym and get in shape to start cleaning the boat.

Well I didn't want to say but that's the real reason I will wait for a week after Hogan, it always snow right after he pulls:)

I started springerizing last weekend. Only reason I am not there this weekend is Daytona is this weekend. I will be back the next two weekends and then ready to head to Baltimore.

Several years ago I went in the end of March. A week later I was sweeping snow off my cover. If you pull the cover now it will snow until the end of april.

Do you mean like this:

That being what it was a few years ago, we're actually staying on the boat tonight "down" here in MD.

OK time to get serious, How soon are you pulling your covers? I thinking next weekend. My weekends are filling quickly and I have to get moving on prepping the boat. I booked on the 24 and 31 so this doesn't leave me a lot of time. My son will be home to help the coming weekend so unless the weather sucks I think this is it.
Any thoughts? I know Haverstraw launched a boat on Saturday granted even they felt it was too soon but the owner wants to fish:) I not looking to launch I just want to get started on the work.

I am getting a new to me boat survey done on 3-16, boat is on the hard, will be launched, then back on the hard. Do you think I need to re-winterize?

Water temp here is about 40 degrees.
Is the boat located around here?

Does the boat have block heaters?

Also when would you close on the boat? Untill then it's the other guys issue?

If it meets your satisfaction why not leave it in at that point? or do you plan to do work to it that necessitates it being out?

Although I'll looking to uncover I'm not dewinterizing however if the boat was in the water I think it would be safer being the water temps are in the 40s.

Walter,
Does that boat have block heaters? Couldn't it stay plugged in with them?
I highly doubt after 3/16 we will get a deep freeze. Even freezing for a day wouldn't do it.
Now if he does water system, A/C, etc, which I assume he will, then you have a different issue.
Why don't we wait closer to end of March?

10 day forecast looks great so cover is coming off ASAP maybe before the weekend if I go a chance. Temped to run up there now but I think I will wait for Thursday I hope to get off early, I put in for this weeks ago.

BTW a little tip if others haven't already thought of this, When I cut my shrink wrap I try to keep as much of it in one piece to use as a drop cloth for bottom painting. I have been doing this for several years I mentioned this to a friend he seemed surprised by this so I figured I would share this with others.

Is anybody planning to fight the cold and head up to you boat today. This really sucks I was really hoping to start working today Thursday was great and know it feels like the 20s.

Andy,
boat has volvo d9 motors not sure about block heaters, boat is is Staten Island

Wrap off my boat today, very sad to see her go :( Hope the new one treats me as well
