I have a Galley Maid sanitation system and it has never worked right. Spent a lot of money sending the pump in and having it rebuilt. No one that I have found on the West Coast is able to work on it. Time to bite the bullet and pull it out. Any recommendations on a replacement. Boat is a 34 Tolleycraft tricabin.
 
I would highly recommend the Raritan Marine Elegance freshwater head.
Nothing will clog these log eaters in my opinion.

I'm in total agreement with Bill; Raritan Marine Elegance. They come in fresh water, raw water, and combination flush. I have fresh water and have been very, very happy with it (as far as one can be with such things). I highly recommend the model with the "Smart Flush Control" so you have more operating options (short flush, long flush, water-only, flush-only, etc.).
 
What Bill and Mixman said +1. Excellent system with never a hint of a clog. Handled Taco Night without even straining.

Mine handles hard softball sized stools where the VF would just quit and say "Uncle".

your Galley Maids are elongated....The Raritan Marine Elegance has a smaller foot print.......If you want the same "look" or similar size get the Rariatn Atlantes elongated bowl...............If you don't want elongated just get the Atlantes......or if you don't care about the size the ME will be fine The Atlantes and the ME have the same internal working parts....the only difference is the bow I lhave changed out several Galley Maids to the Atlantes.

What is the head not doing? Have you replaced the stator and/or rotor in the unit.

The Galley Maid heads are bullet proof and if serviced correctly should work without problems.

They are a very simple design that works well.
 
Thanks for the tips. Yes, the stator and rotor were replaced, along with the one way valve. I cannot get consistent water flow to the head.

Time to dump it and go with a head that has served me well it gets heavy use for the last 5 seasons. I don't think you can beat the Raritan ME on cost or reliability. I dumped a 1 year old new VacuFlush system for it and I am so glad I did.

If you put a new stator on the intake pump side then I would check for a blockage of the water supply itself. Intake, sea cock, hosing, etc.....

These head do not clog and are not hard to bring back to excellent working condition.
 
1993 Vacu Flush in my Chris. I bought the boat in 2006. I do four things to it.
1. Winterize it in the fall.
2. Springize it in the spring.
3. Use it all summer.
4. Pump it out when the tank gets full.
That has been my total experience, nothing ever replaced, fixed or adjusted.
Can't ask for much more than that.
 
I see there are a number of places, including Ebay, to purchase the head. Any recommendations as to the best place to buy? I plan to start removing the old system this weekend.

Do a quick search under VF problems in this thread, it speaks volumes. They are obviously popular good heads. I still think the Raritan ME dusts the VF hands down. Well keep your hands out of the ME or you'll have stubs.

+1 on the ME. It also comes in a tall height that is easier on the knees. Bought mine from Defender. The thing that convinced me was a post on this board describing the qualification testing where it had to handle three unpeeled unripened plaintains.
 
Raritan actually installed it in their Mens room for 6 months as part of the testing before the head (ME) was commercially launched.
