Only going to be in the 40s Fri and Sat low 50s Sun I was thinking of bottom painting is this to cold to paint? I don't want another problem again.

I have bottom painted below 50 degrees a number of times. Aside from taking longer to dry I've yet to have an issue. That's with regular ablative paint not sure about the barrier coating you have to do. What does the drying time tables say?

I'm only using regular ablative paint I've been back and forth on this but I'm taking the advice of the Rep and just sanding/ruffing the barrier coat then painting one coat blue and one black. If drying time is the only factor then I may go forward with blue on Sat and black on Sun. Soon this will be nothing more then a bad memory.

Look at it this way Dave, when that job is finished people will be telling you again how good your bottom looks... An a few of those comments will be made by people like me who mean the boats bottom not yours.

Paint each coat at noon-1PM, it will be the warmest then, have plenty of time to setup before it gets cold at night.

When I do mine myself I always follow exactly what the instructions say as far as temps, but one year I put my work order into the yard early and they ended up painting the bottom of my boat in February when it wasn't warm at all and I had no issues with the paint that year. After that I figured it probably doesn't really matter that much if it's a little colder than recommended.

I stopped at the boat today and it looks like the sanding should be done in time for this weekend so this will be my goal. I want to at least get the first coat on, the cover off and the top up. the rest will have to wait for two weeks. Then comes the big push to finish and launch.
