It's an electric head. I think a vacu-flush but not sure. Stock 96 Sea-Ray 290 sundancer.
Electric motor on the backside base of the toilet and a push button switch to flush on the sink wall.
Last time out it would suck everything down fine and quick but would fill no water back in...none. Not in thew water and not on the trailer. I would just use water from the sink hose to fill/flush when we where on the water.

Boat has been sitting for a month now on the trailer and we have an upcoming weekend. Potty was dry so I added some orange holding tank chemical in the toilet and let it sit for while. Half hour later I noticed an orange trail from the base of the toilet.

This is my 1st electric head so any guidance would be great...thx

Sounds like a Jabsco electric head. Like this one here?

There are service kits that supply all the seals and the impeller. It's not a fun job. It's not really stuff you want to take apart with your hands but you need to.

And when you are done you will still have something that wakes the dead if you flush it at night. Plus you might find as I did that within a year or two, the motor itself rusts out and dies and that costs more $ and another up to your elbows in s*** experience.

Many here will suggest you pitch it and get a Raritan Marine Elegance and connect it to your pressurized fresh water. You probably weren't looking to drop $500 or so right now, but you'll be happy with the results if you do. I was.

how could you not know what kind of head you have?...

on a VF, there is no motor at the base but a vacuum pump below deck between the head and the holding tank so it sounds like you have a plain electric head.

if you want useful answers and help, you're going to have to check what model/brand head you have...

The base is different. Mine has about 3 or 4 screws that screw the base to the floor. Looks like a gasket between it.

Get the model number, serial number and operating voltage from the label on the motor. That way, we'll all know what it is.

Ok, finally getting around to this.

I think I found the leak. The electric motor on the back is held on by 4 screws. 1 was missing. It leaks on that side. Pretty sure that's it.
If the base gasket is leaking then I will eat the time and do it again. Lets move past that for now.

The next issue is the lack of water put back into the toilet. It sucks everything down with a quickness but zero water. So I check the thru hull. Open. I pull the water inlet line and put the sink hose into and hit the motor...it barely puts anything out. I'm pretty certain it's 99% the pressure from the sink that is getting the water through there.

Here are the parts.
motor with plastic housing and blade inside. Yes, I see the wire issue. I'll butt those.

# on it. 16148-0000 On the bottom is says ITT Jabsco 74000????0.

It has a duck bill in the white housing that right beside it. The duck bill is iffy. Had some crud built up in it prior to the duck bill.

Bottom left is where the leak was and the screw was missing.

Thx for your help!!

Jeez, do I feel dumb. Took the motor out and the impeller was destroyed. Every vane was detached.

6303-03 is the #

I can't find that exact number but 6303- works. Maybe WM will have it. Looks pretty standard.

Replace the seals while you're at it. Otherwise eventually water will get past the seals and into the motor (if it hasn't already). Motors are expensive.

Do NOT run the toilet on the trailer. Without water in the intake line the rubber impeller will destroy itself in short order and you're back to square one. Putting water in the bowl does NOT help.

Works great but still leaks water at the same area, hard to tell where it is. Even with a flashlight and mirror I can't see exactly where the slight leak is.
I'll have to pull the motor and maybe grease the seal. The seal looked good but it's a tough one to make sure it stays in the groove as I put it back in. I can't see or feel it.
