Hey all,

A friend at the harbor is in process of purchasing a 1990 34 Santego (I don't have the specific model). Anyhow, he was telling me that it stopped getting water in the toilet bowl. I am thinking a crimped hose somewhere or something like that, so going to help try and locate it. But, before we get started, anyone have some clues where the line runs?

Also, anyone know if this boat comes with a vacuum pump for the toilet? They have slept on it for about a week now and said they have never heard a pumping sound, so not sure if that is part of the issue or if this one doesn't come with one.

Any clues before we start tearing into things would be helpful.

I have the 1989 30 Santego and it comes with a macerator on the pump. Had to replace the impeller on it and now its fine. If it was run too long without water, the rubber impeller bakes onto the housing and wont work! This is the Crown Head unit. The base of the head holds the pump and it measures about 12 X 8 X 6 inches high.

Ya, just pulled the old specifications from Carver site and saw the Crown electric head part. It dawned on me that I saw that on the circuit board. Good to know.

Easy to replace and find parts for it?

It might have been better if you had posted the question n the sanitation forum, as the moderator is VERY familiar with the Raritan Engineering Crown head. ( He works for Raritan... )

In any event, here is a link to the Owner's Manual for the Crown head.

I am certain that if you posted a description of the head and the problems in the sanitation forum you would get a useful response.

Parts should be available from Boatfix.com at a very competitive price.

I hope that helps...

--edit--

The problem might be as simple as having the raw water inlet seacock closed. You need to get "closer to the problem", so that you have a better idea of what is, and what is not, happening.

Thanks for the help. As for getting close to the problem, that is the plan for this weekend but thought I would try and find out where and what to look for. I would have posted in the sanitation forum originally had I known what he had to begin with, hence posting here to figure it out.

Thanks for the link! That will come in handy now that I know what the Crown head is.

I bought the kit to rebuild it and am very happy with the head. Wasn't a crazy price either! Especially like the deodorant injection with every flush.

Anyone know if the water for the flush part is drawing outside water? Just spoke to my friend and he said it looks like water from the river sitting in it. Is this something that can be changed either with a flip of a valve switch or...?

Mine draws from the bottom of the hull, the only problem with this is that other than a crawl, the pump tends to lose a bit of its prime and ergo, the impeller runs dry! Best to use the head at rest or avoid prolonged flush when moving.

He did mention that he had to prime something. Can't remember the conversation though (too many beers) and thought he was talking about the air conditioner. But good to know, maybe that is the issue with no water flow. Guess we have a 6 pack project to figure things out. I will pass along the whole using while under way though, good to know.
