Trailer rental for 25 ft Monterey 7500 lbs

Anyone know where I can rent a trailer for 1 week to 10 days over the summer to haul and transport my 25 ft. 2005 Monterey 248LSC Cuddy weighing about 7500 lbs?
 
Dolans in lindenhurst used to rent trailers, but it's been a few years since I last rented one.
 
They still have two trailers. I dont know if its going to fit a 25ft boat. I bet you could probably buy a trailer for what its going to cost to rent
 
I have a trailer for my 26' that may work for you. Boat weighs about the same.

When are you thinking you'd need it. We keep the boat in a marina so its rarely used
 
Dolan's trailer are 4800 lbs max. How are you estimating your weight? I ask because my last boat was listed at 4800 lbs and on a scale was a little over 6200 lbs so be careful.

My trailer is officially gone (insurance claim filed - but didn't have agreed to value on it) - so looking for one to purchase if anyone hears anything...

I called, no answer, but it might be just a little too small. My boat is 26' and weighs 6800lbs dry. Said that was rated for 7500lbs. What do you think? I was looking at new ones that were rated for 8000-8500lbs, but are significantly more expensive
 
7500lbs seems to be a cutoff point in pricing the next size trailer gets pricey and really hard to find here. When I'm in Florida they're easy to find but they know what they're worth. Why not call a trailer dealer and ask what size they would recommend for your boat?

I called a few - they seem to feel that something rated for 8000lbs (ie: Venture VATB8025) would be the best option. Looking at minimum 4K, which I don't think I want to spend on a boat that I'm probably going to sell this season, and only trailer a few times a year.

Yeah, the used ones are hard to find though. Very rare.

What about buy the trailer and add a leaf or change the axles to handle your weight? If your boat fits on this trailer you can beef up the suspension. How much trailering are we talking about?

.I mean I probably tow two or three times a year...at this point, it's more about marketability to sell.

Even though it will likely be someone else's problem, I have to make sure it's safe for them (silly conscience).

I think I'm going to go take a look at it tomorrow and see what kind of shape it's really in and then make a decision from there.

That's a really good idea though. Never thought about adding a leaf and swapping axles. The trailer should fit the boat (the beam was the same as mine, and length within a foot) It'd probably fit the way it is now, but just too close for my comfort.

Anybody you reccomend for the work? I'm not too good with trailers myself...
