Traveling to the Bahamas? Customs is on STRIKE!

Could get interesting.
 
Wow, it says both Grand Bahamas and Bimini are involved. So, are they just turning boats around and sending them back to the US?

I have not heard anything yet. But then, most folks are headed back to the States now. Most of the traffic we have seen is coming from the Exumas to spend some time in the Abacos before heading home.
 
I was thinking just the opposite. Maybe the marinas will let us stay, and we can save the $300.00. They just want the american dollars.

I doubt that will happen. Actually, no one but the Captain can even get off the boat until you clear Customs.

Bob you are correct. If this goes on a while, the loss of revenue to the marina will be huge. I suspect they will settle soon.

We do violate the "Captain only Rule" when we check in at Big Game. The wife and kids go walking around while I usually go down and check in.

We always play it conservatively and follow the rules. Why give them the opportunity to get upset?
 
scheduled to head out of Lauderdale Wednesday with a stop at the Big Game Club that evening....oh well guess we shall see....
 
Keep us informed as to how it goes, Danny. I'm planning on heading over in about 3 weeks.

Here at the Big Game Club, it's business at usual......according to the dockmaster, its mainly in Nassau, and the airports.....The Captain has taken thepassports and forms to the office and if there is anything different to report will let you know....here till tomorrow morning, then to Chub...before heading to Harbor Island on Friday

Captain is back with passports and nothing is any different, as stated above........(UNLESS..they are on strike and still working and slipping the $300 in their pockets)...LOL

Kurt it was a great day yesterday, water almost flat.....heading out later this morning to make Chub this afternoon...and hoping to get out of there Friday morning, to make Harbor Island, before a front passes.....This Grand Banks, is slow, but steady tug....LOL
 
I came back from the exumas and Nassau earlier this week. Great weather! The crossing from gun Cay yesterday was one of the best I ve done... Glassy! Great bank crossing the day before from the Berrys. I always skip chub, it just doesn't do it for me and too $$. I anchored just inside bird cay instead. Great spot with many beaches and sandbars nearby.

Speaking of which I took the tender to check berry island club, they are open. The T-head is nice and deep and the channel is wide with a pair of buoys at the entrance. Talked to the manager, looks like they re open for good. A better choice than chub and more "Bahamian" in my opinion
