Treasure Island day trip

I didnt know that Treasure island has a winery. We took a day trip from Oakland. 5 miles each, a short nice cruise on 4th of July. Grilled burgers on the boat, took a walk around to discover a winery and did some wine tasting.

It was nice cruising under the new bridge still under construction. If I had a dinghy I would have hung out on the small beach there.

Anyways...lots of fun.

When did they put the docks in there? I also did not know of the winery. Now, I have a good reason to go there!

Edit: You must have tied up at the Yacht Club there. From the angle of the pic, I thought you were at some other docks.
 
Yes. There are guest docks but they are quite rustic. You cannot get out of the gate without calling the harbor master. They are a Almar marina but my key still did not work.

We were just in an exploring, adventurous mood and wanted a really short trip. 5 miles from Jack London you have McCovey cove or Clipper Cove. Makes it a nice spot to have a boat. Berkeley marina is not far away as well. Angel Island is about 12 miles.

It was fun. Boating with 2 small kids adds some challenge to it though.

Good to know about the docks.
We were in the City for the 4th. It looked a bit choppy out on the Bay at least more towars the SF side. Probably good you did a short run.

Thanks Flutter. I finally got a new mechanic shop. He is more expensive but works promptly, does quality work and will look for other problems and fix them as he goes. He will even pick up the boat from my slip while Im at work.

Also, I'm getting more use of the boat being located in Oakland. I'm 2 miles from McCovey cove, 10 miles from Angel Island, 12 miles from Sausalito and Tiburon, 5 miles from Treasure island. From Martinez I was 30+ miles from all those destinations. When I was in Martinez, Glen Cove marina was a nice short trip. When they shut down for maintenance there were no reasonable, day trips to go to.

Now that I am mostly past repair and maintenance Ive been working on small upgrades. MOst recently I had an inverter installed. Works well...still not sure what charges the batts..the old batt charger or the new inverter.

Great that you are enjoying more, but how are you closer to McCovey Cove than Treasue Island? Seems like they would be similar or even TI a little closer
 
The anchorage is green clay, so, set the anchor and give it a steady pull for some time. The breeze will swing the boat around. It's tough sometimes avoiding the other boats in the anchorage. My boat zig zagged in the breeze. I can see the need for a stay sail or stern anchor.

The shore line was nice. We set up our lawn chairs and read into the late afternoon. There was an abandoned dinghy on the beach and an abandoned transient camp down in the brush when we were there.
