Trent-Severn/Georgian Bay/North Channel

Just got the Canadian Ports guide Ron, it looks like a great publication. Those entrance route pictures are great.

Henry's is already hi-lighted on the chart with a sticky note. Thanks Scott.

It's only Jan 14th and we are getting very excited. Just hope oil prices drop a little B-4 Summer.

Also cruise the entire length of Collins Inlet, anchor overnight at Mill Lake. As you head west, Killarney, eat at the world famous bus. Take a walk to the dump and see how many bears are hanging out. Have your track show on :)Next stop the Pool or Maryann cove. Meldrum Bay for the bakery lady. The Benjamins, Harbor Island. Cockburn Island, check out the old deserted cars and houses. Little current for supplies.
If you get a chance to visit Tobermory, lots of wrecks to visit. Cut the bottom out of an old plastic bucket. Makes a great viewing port, you don't even have to get wet. Also anchor over night in Cove Island.

Strongly suggest the CHS charts for the journey as well. Many, many great achorages along the way in Georgian Bay heading up the small craft route. Channels are marked well, but if you venture into the bays, as you should, to experience the anchorages, you need to be mindful of the rocks! GPS is great, but the charts are very reliable, and other than water level, there is no better way to be sure.

Other than 'Henry's', other great stops include Wreck Island (Provincial Park), with day use docks suitable for larger boats, great hiking trail, and visitors trail guide. Port Rawson Bay, Indian Harbour, Echo Bay and Moon River basin all offer great anchoring spots, some even with mooring balls, that for a small overnight fee collected by park staff, often include garbage removal.

Ray, we've done the Trent-Severn - Georgian Bay (amazing trip!) and the North Channel is on our short list. I came across a great blog from some boaters who have done the NC and there is a lot of useful information supplied. You can find it here...

Enjoy.

Scott and Tom thanks for the info. Our list keeps getting longer. That is a great Blog Tom. Lot's of great pictures and interesting stuff.

North Channel is great, most boaters fill water tanks directly from the lake.

Thanks to everyone for your help, advice, info, pictures and websites to help plan our trip this Summer.

Moored to a cliff in the Bad River area 2007. Never thought I'd pull my beautiful boat up to a rock! But all went well with many fenders.

It has been a while since I have been in the North Channel. We would go diving around Tobermory then head across to Killarny and into the channel for a few days. Absolutely beautiful! Does the Schoolbus in Killarny still have the worlds best fish?

YES!!! The Fish & Chips from the Killarney school bus are "The BEST!!!" They are fresh caught and served almost as soon as they are offloaded from the fishing boat.

I am getting hungry just thinking about them. I gotta get back up to Tobermory and the North Channel this year.
