The admiral and I will be up in RI, terrorizing the northeastern waters, for the next 2 weeks starting this weekend.
If you're out on Narragansett Bay, give us a shout. ("Going Coastal")
I assume you can now hail on 16, then switch to a working channel. They aren't still doing that dumb experiment in the northeastern CG district where you are required to only hail on 9, are they? All that does is make it so people don't monitor 16 because they are waiting for hails on 9. (You must monitor 16, as required by law, if you have a VHF. This adds to the safety of other boaters, so you can be a responder.) Pretty sure the experiment was repealed about 3 years ago, according to a memo from the CG head honcho. I think Les posted a copy of that letter.
We'll be monitoring 16, and heading out from the Wickford area.
