Well we arrived at the boat today to begin the journey to take her home to Virginia. Everything appears to ba good to go for an early morning departure. Hopefully 11 days from now we will arrive at Olverson's Marina. I will try to post a couple pics and some info each day. I will likely post on facebook as well if anyone uses that here. You can find me under my name there.

Thanks guys. Day one went off without a hitch. Well I did scrape the rub rail getting out of the slip. But I did successfully dock twice. Pics to come in a couple of days.

Thats why the rubrail is there. No one got hurt, Id call that a successful day..

Good luck!

nothin spackel and duct tape wont fix. j/k. We could not find anyone to help with lines when we left this morning and the wind was blowing pretty fiece in Jacksonville at the NAS. I got a little to close to the dock trying to hold it steady while Sandy undid the lines.

A couple more pictures. We are up to Georgetown now. Stopped at Harborview Marina tonight.

Mexican food and Belvedere'd Ice Tea from a sippy cup. How great is that.

It looks like you are having a great time! The pictures are great and making me anxious to get away for me dock which I have not done as of yet.

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

You folks be safe coming up this way. Don't push a day any further than you feel necessary.

Well we have made it back to our slip in VA. The Chesapeake was clear and smooth and we were able to run 20+ knots all the way from Norfolk, about 90miles. And I was even able to back it into the slip on the first try. Although there was a few pucker moments there. I will post a link to our blog as soon as I finish writing this trip up.

Glad to hear you made it safely. Hope you enjoyed the trip.

Thanks Dave. Overall it was a great trip. There were a few hairy moments and a few WTH did I just do moments to be sure. But in the end the trip was great and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Although we would want to take much longer to do it.

For those that are wondering it was roughly 900 miles from Mulberry Cove marina in Jacksonville, FL to Olverson's Lodge Creek Marina in Lottsburg, VA. We took on a total of 773 gallons of fuel. I figure we ran roughly a third at 10knots or less and about 1/3rd at 20knots or even a little better. The rest was somewhere in between.

Here are a couple more photos:

Sorry we weren't there when you got in but we left the marina a little after 9 yesterday morning. I understand you are on A-dock.
We'll catch up next weekend. Glad you had a good trip.

I will be back in two weeks. We have some friends (non-boating) coming from CA next weekend. We wound up on A-Dock until a larger covered slip opens. As it turns out the slip he was going to have me in is only 15' wide. Not a very good fit.

It has been quite a long while since I made that part of the ICW trip. I was immediately taken to remembering those days fondly.

Your boat looks great, and though I do not know know you, I am excited for you and your family as you continue your boating travels in something that nice.

Enjoy...

Well the blog is posted. It is a bit long so for those that just want to skip to the pictures the link is at the end of the blog.

The entire trip was great. We are very much looking forward to the return trip, albiet with a little more time to do it in. In the meantime, we can not wait to get going on some of the projects that need doing on the boat as well as getting some cruising in this summer.

Hey John,
Nice looking boat. Hope you don't mind but I took it for a spin around the creek. Handles real nice!
See you next weekend.

John

that was my old slip, it has a dish and cable at the pier. Best of luck there. Nice IP next door and the big bertram for sale on the other side.
