I have a 19 ft cuddy cabin. It currently has an I/O omc stringer on it. I just rebuilt the outdrive this fall. I don't know how much longer the engine and outdrive will last. I want some reassurance that I can still get home if the main motor goes. I'm looking into all of my options for backup power. I am looking at trolling motors: engine mount, trim tab mount, transom mount (single or dual). I am also looking at gas kicker motors. I want to know what you'all recommend. The boat is about 3500#. Gas or Electric? How much power? That sort of thing. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
