Hello to All: I recently found your forum which I love. I recently bought a 97 400DA and will take delivery on 3/31 and I am effective today, 2/16 "UNEMPLOYED" after 16 years with this company and all I received was 2 weeks sovereigns pay. I guess that's how it is these days. Downsizing, economy and whole lot of other things I guess played into this termination.
Therefore, I begun the arduous task of networking to find gainful employment as soon as possible.

My cell phone & home phone will be given if asked in PM. I live in Bayshore and am 56 years old. I am primarily in the construction (highway & bridgesmostly) field and have done project management, purchasing and estimating in this field but I am sure that I could transition to a different field without too much trouble if necessary. Unfortunately for my prospective employers, I am in the $90k-$100k salary bracket but believe me, I am worth every penny.

Look forward to hearing from some of you soon, very soon.

OJ,

Sorry to hear the news…. It happened to me last August after 19 years with Westwood One Radio. They downsized big time as Radio and advertising are not the same anymore. When I began my job search, I was very selective, too selective, also wanted my same salary or more. Well summer became fall, then winter. I changed my goals a bit and landed a, I hope a good job in NYC, I start on Tuesday 2/20.

PM me with your e-mail address…. I have lots of pointers and job sites that you can get. I can send you a spread sheet with many of the top sites. Indeed.com is one site that you can set up job search agents, many have this feature, but what is nice about Indeed.com is that it pulls from many job websites, combines it into an e-mail sent to you each morning.

Also sign up with unemployment ASAP; you can do this online http://www.labor.state.ny.us/

There is a NYS Workforce office out east in Patchogue. They treat you like a human and have lots of help and services. Don’t sit idle, start right away!!!

This is my thread when I got let go. http://www.boatered.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=92998

Good luck…

Thanks, Brad. Don't know how to PM in this forum but do at Clubsearay.com Thanks for the info I will follow your suggestions. I have already put some feelers out in my industry but believe me I won't stand idle by no means. In my industry there is a site www.constructionjobs.com it is like monster.com for the construction industry which I am in. I have already posted my resume there. If you let me know how to PM in this forum I will do so. Every time I tried to email someone a window pops up and says that I have to be a subscriber. I thought I was already?????

You would need to buy an Anchor $19.95, click on the top of the page where it says
Help Support this forum – Join Today. It will explain what you need to do. The Yearly cost of $19.95 helps support this great site. It also gives you other advantages, like E-mailing options, access to restricted forums and other nice features.

You can thank Bob for having to pay to PM....

He's a real nice guy with a death wish.

Rommer, are you saying that before Bob’s inappropriate PM’s to a few RO’s defending his crazy / ludicrous BI plans, you could PM as just a signed up RO and not a paying RO subscriber ?

If so, I don’t blame Les at all, but one F’en RO could cause that after all this time really stinks. When Bob posted his plans I gave him a rather educated polite reply. But after seeing all his responses, I wished I would have flamed him big time. Especially now.

Brad

Yup, Les specifically addressed Bob's inappropriate PM's by rewriting the forum code to prevent non-paying members from PM'ing. The post about that is in NBR.

There are a fair number of people that don't see the damage he does here and I for one got tired of debating it with them. Since the other day I have been trying to skip over a lot of the PC stuff that goes on at times. But a fact is a fact, Bob's actions caused Les to remove a feature that was available to all. See http://www.boatered.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=95747

As has been suggested by the "supporters" I will ignore him going forward so if he chooses to try and defend himself in this thread I will have no reaction to it at all so troll away!

Thanks for the info Brad. I will buy an anchor as soon as I get a job! LOL. Just kidding. Will definitely get one.
Thanks again

Sure hope you don't think I was trying to pressure anyone into getting anchor.

Sorry to hijack your thread. Here's to a speedy bounce back in the job market!

Depends on how fast Les can polish up a new anchor. Sometimes a day or so, sometimes a week or more. And then there are the times we have to rattle his cage and toss him some raw meat to get him off his a$$!!!!
