Hey everyone! I might be purchasing my next boat this weekend if the survey goes well on saturday in Key Largo. The situation however is that I am away on business and am flying from NY to have all day Sunday and until 5pm Monday to get the boat (A 25 foot Grady White CC) back to my marina in central Palm Beach County.

I was just wondering if anyone has a approx time to do this run. The boat runs about 30mph cruise.

Just wondering on the recomendation on inside / outside and any things to watch out for along the way. I would be leaving on the bayside in Key Largo Sunday morning.

Thanks,

Peter

Have you considered moving it by land/trailer instead? Faster and cheaper if you can get your hands on trailer and vehicle.

3 hours if you run outside.

Cannot estimate if you run inside.

One thing to point out, on Sunday is the FLL Air Show and you may experience traffic/delays in the Port Everglades area. I don't think it will have an impact on your run, but be aware for all the traffic/activity in the area.

it's about 40 NM from KL to Miami and another 60NM to PB, so at 26kts figure about 3 1/2 to 4 hrs

you can run on the inside from KL to Miami, especially since the boat is already on the bay side. there are no speed restriction till miami, the water is smooth, well marked, more scenic... once you approch Miami, head out thru the well marked channel at Stilsville, just south of Cape Florida and finish the run outside.

Update:

Thanks everyone! The survey turned out great and me and my wife headed down to pick up our second boat. We sold our Larson 254 Cabrio just after a year of ownership. We sold it quick and for more then we paid for it!

We decided to go for some more quality on our next boat and we picked it up again for a great deal from someone that took terrific care of it. The engine checked out good and then the survey came back great so we went ahead.

We ran the boat from Key Largo to Palm Beach on Sunday and it was terrific the boat did not have one issue... knock on teak.

I got it back to our marina and gave it the total cleaning. We hope to get a little more time out of the current engine and will then either put a new powerhead in it or upgrade engines to something newer.

The boat is terrific... now I have to learn how to fish. We picked the Grady since we wanted cruise/fish ability and did not want a cabin anymore.

Here is a pic - We will be renaming her soon!
