I have an old Vacu-Flush head on my boat (It's so old it's a Mansfield), that I retrofitted with the current style water valve and pedal. Previously it had an electric solenoid that opened when the pedal was depressed. The new pedal, however, goes down too far when pressed, to a point where the part that activates the water valve will rotate off the plunger for the valve, then, when the pedal is returned, it will hit the plunger and pop it off the valve.
To avoid this, I have to be conscious of how far I push down the pedal and in order to keep it from coming off the plunger, I can't push it down far enough to fully open the flush ball in the bottom of the bowl.
Normally on a vacu-flush, I can simply push the pedal till it stops and I have no problem, but the other ones I've used don't push down this far.
I have included some photos (sorry for the cell phone quality) of the setup to help envision the problem. I have more photos on the way of the pedal in the down position, but for now, this is what i have. I took the pedal cover off for the photos, but it doesn't make a difference on or off.
Any recommendations on what I can do here? thanks.
