I replaced my ball and seals. When I put everything back together, I found that the pedal binds in the up position when you add water to the bowl. it didn't do that before.

I called Sea Land and they suggest that I bend the part of the lever that contacts the white mushroom part at the top of the valve up to take some of the tension off. I did that but it didn't make a difference.

I also tried putting a spaced under the spring to put more tension on the spring hoping that more force would cause the valve to snap closed stronger. That didn;t really work either.

I tried puting teflon lube on the top of the mushroom shaped thing on the top of the valve. That didn't help either.

The curved part of the lever that contacts the white mushroom is binding.

I may try putting more spaces under the spring to add a little more tension. I can;t imagine that the problem is with the lever. It must be the valve. I'd prefer not to waste $40 on a whole new valve. The valve itself is fine.

Everything works when you push the pedal down to flush, the valve opens and water comes in. That doesn't stick because the spring cartridge, which I changed with the ball kit, returns the pedal to the neutral position. But that spring is just for flushing, not for when you lift the pedal.

Sounds like you may need to take it apart to see whats binding on the shaft? It shouldn't be doing that and it sounds like something got out of alignment when you put it back together. Keep us posted Michael, good luck!

It's not binding on the shaft. The flush works fine. The lever is binding on the mushroom top of the valve.

I got it to work by bending down the part of the lever that rides on the top of the valve so that it only takes a small amount of llist of the lefer to open the valve. Then I made a stopper at the other end so that you can only lift the pedal a small amount. This reduces the travel and it doesn't bind. If it travels too much it binds.

I'm not thrilled with this solution and I don't know how long it will last but it works for now until I can come up with something better.
