On a friends boat the VF pedal sticks in the down position after flushing. Comes back up easily if you pull with your foot. Any ideas? Our VF has never had this problem. Thanks.

The pedal is spring loaded, the spring has either broken or come loose. The other thing that breaks on the pedal is the shaft that turns the stopper (white round thing that seals the bowl), it was made of plastic on mine and I replaced several of them.

Is the toilet on any sort of platform, or is it mounted flush to the sole of the head? If on a platform and mounted too far forward, the pedal can get hyperextended, that is, pushed down too far, and that will cause the issues in BillK's post, among others. The pedal cannot be allowed to be pushed down beyond the base of the toilet. It is in the installation instructions, but as I found out when diagnosing a latent issue on one of my systems, those are not always followed.

What caltexfla said.....and when it hyperextends, it can warp the shaft and then the o-rings won't seal, and then it won't hold vacuum, and then, and then........

And then....

Replace it with a Raritan!!! >
