I have a VacuFlush system in our Maxum 3500. and the pump was cycling every 5-7 minutes. I purchased the "minor rebuild kit" which included the duck bills, flush ball and shaft and the bowl seal kit. After installing everything the pump still cycles but it's now every 40 minutes or so. Much better but not right. I have tightened hose clamps throughout. What would be the next steps in determining the problem? I'm sure there is a logical progression to debugging this one. Any help is much appreciated.

Check the soft seal at the bowl base, on some VF it can leak. Easy to overtighten

Turn off every noise source include air con and try to hear the leak although if it s cycling every 40'minutes in wouldn't waste too much time on it

Another possibilities is that the DB got pinched/twisted. I always put a little liquid soap on the flange to prevent that

Thanks Pascal. I'll check the base. Over-tightening could be the culprit. I'm heading down tomorrow to try to find the problem. That will be the first thing i check. Thanks gain.

Pascal,
I did re-seat the bowl, checked the seals etc. Didn't have a torque wrench but did not torque it down anywhere near what it was the first time. It had little if any effect. It is still cycling every 40 some minutes. I will check the duck bills that i replaced but expect them to be OK. We'll see. Just wanted to close the loop with you. Thanks again for your help.

If it s not that base seal (did you try to listen for the leak?) then reinstall the DB. Put liquid soap on the lip

I assume your not losing water from the bowl? If so use the supplied plastic cleaning tool to clean the ball valve seat inside the head.
