Is there any type of maintenance required on the vacuum pump itself.I took off the access cover (2 screws) and there doesn't seem to be any need for attention. Mine is the original going on it's eleventh season.I do replace the duckbill valves every 2 years.

Mine are 23 years old. I recently sent one in to have it rebuilt with the new whisper motor. No idea when the duckbills were last changed, probably a while. I had one for pumpout and one for the flush so I am putting the one that worked to the pumpout and the new one will be for the vacuflush system.

GARDNERSF,
Check the duckbills on the overboard discharge pump (t series). You may find that the overboard pump has two less duckbills, than the vacuflush pump. This is designed this way, and may affect your system performance. You should use the S style pump for the system, not the T series.
Other than that, you should be good to go.

Gary,

Both pumps were S Series pumps. Is there any issue with using the S Series as overboard? Thats they way it was when I bought the boat. The overboard pump wasn't working, seemed like a seized motor. I woudl probably use the overboard pump at most 1 or 2 times a year. Usually I will be too close to shore.

There are no issues with using the s series as a discharge pump.

Would I still use two sets of duckbills when sing it as an overboard pump?

Scott,

I did the same thing you did, got rid of that unreliable macerator.

I did not use any duckbills on my overboard discharge as I'm not trying to hold any vacuum AFTER turning off the pump.

Also MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN ADEQUATE TANK VENT WHE DOING THIS UPGRADE !

RWS

RWS, My tank vent is the standard 5/8 and runs about 15 ft of hose to outboard the head where the fitting is. it was a pretty straight run before, any idea how to tell if it is vented well enough? I'm a littel constrained by where the fittings already are.

I would leave the duckbills in there and operate it that way. Sometimes without them, a siphoning effect can happen while underway, depending on your thru hull location.
