I have a vacuflush system that seems to have a problem. On friday the pump would run fine when the head was flushed, after 30 - 45 seconds it would shut off, everything ok. By Sat AM the pump would run continously and never shut off but it would build pressure so we just flipped the switch when the head was used. By this morning the pump will run continously and never build pressure or shut off.. Last yeat I replaced the 2 duck bills. What should I look for?
Thanks,
Stee

If it's holding water (if it isn't replace the bowl seal) let it sit for a day (with the pump off) and then try filling the bowl full and flush it. If that doesn't do it try replacing the duckbill valves again.

assuming water stays in the bowl, then it's either the duckbill or the vac switch.

soemting may be stuck in the DB. try flushing a bowlfull of water as dave suggested, that my flush the DB. otherwise, pull them out, since they're only a year old clean them and reinstall. be careful not to overtighten the fitting as that can distord the DB.

or, check the vac swtich. if the shaft is dirty/corroded it may not pull in all the way to trigger the switch. push it in an out a few times.

btw there should be two pairs DBs... one pair on the inlet side, one pair on the outlet side. if only one pair was replaced, then maybe the other one is acting up

have you tried flushing a lot of water? does the bowl hold water?

I did find the second set of duck bills today. They are worn out. I never realized there were 2 sets. Thanks

I had a similar problem turned out to be the vent line was clogged (pinched) so I guess the vacu pump couldn't properly breathe.

the vent line on the holding tank ? it won't affect a VF... it will pump and pressurize your tank till the tank deforms ! or till you open the pump out and face a brown geyser.... :-)

Well it worked and it was listed as a possible cause under troubleshooting in the Vacu Flush system manual.

I think I'm having this same problem. The head pump would make a whump whump whump sound, continuously until it was shut off at the panel. Is this the sound I would hear from this problem? This sound was coming from near the holding tank. Is this where the pump/duck bills are? The head seems to work well: the bad stuff goes away, but I didn't check to see if it holds water still. I'll check that later when I return to the boat tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks!

Yes my vacuum generator would sound like it was working hard overtime and under load. The duckbills on the system are before and after the pump on the generator. I have the unit where the vacuum tank and pump/vac generator are one assembly. It is still working great after I corrected the pinched (closed) vent hose.

I replaced all 4 duck bills. During the replacement of the rear set I found 2 pieces of plastic that looked as if they broke off of a round disc of some kind. I guess it is time to dig a little deeper. After replacing the duck bills the system builds vaccume again but won't shut off. The bowl appears to hold water for ever.
