I'm cleaning up the forward bulkhead in the engine room of a 1977 45' Chris Craft Commander to install a heating system. The boat has been up dated with two vacu flush heads into a 100 gallon holding tank. The first picture is of the top of the tank. There is a fitting with a hose coming off the elbow that in picture two goes into a pressure switch relay. Is this from the old system and can it be removed without creating a new problem

I don't know, but what you are showing is not a part of my 1989 version of Vacuflush.

Thanks Capt.

I don't think it has anything to do with the vacu flush. There is a pump (not shown) that is controlled by the relay w/ switch on the left side of pic two. If I remove the vacuum switch will the pump still work. When I'm offshore I would still like the option of pumping out my holding tank overboard.

Billyk what happens when the relay is energized? What is it supposed to control?
I'm missing something in the translation....?

I think it used to control the overboard pump. If you manually press the lever, it makes the relay connect. I dont think it controls anything anymore, because there is an on/off switch and if the switch is off the pump will not engage. I have to make space on the bulkhead this stuff is on for the heating unit, so for now I just laid it down. I will update, but I don't think there are many of them still out there.

At one point the vacuum switch must have been needed to pull from the two heads. I removed the hose and fittings, plugged the hole, and everything works fine. The relay pictured is a DC control for an AC discharge pump. Pump works fine on a 20a switch. The heads had a #2 feed to a solenoid with a momentary switch. It must have used a lot of power to use the heads back then. I made use of the #2s for a nice DC panel in the engine room. I'm pretty close to finishing the heating system. I'll post a thread and pics at a later date.

Thanks for your input,

Billy K.
