Don't think I ve ever been here in October but quiet is an understatement!

There were only two boats in the marina when I cleared at Cat cay, which is very quick btw, under 30' between the time came in the marina entrance, cleared and out,,, first time I try instead of Bimini or Nassau, worth the $100 dockage fee.

Didn't see a single boat across the bank to NW channel, although at night it s not surprising.... I Anchored just NW of the missing norwest channel light, off then beaten bath., around midnight.

Today, from NW channel I only saw one sportfish heading west and one large MY anchored off Albany.

The real shocker was arriving at Staniel... big majors is alway a busy spot and it was completely empty! not a single boat anchored out.

Going to spend a couple of days here then continue on to Gtown to pick up guests mid next week.

Baltimore: Fells Point Fun-Fest - usually every marina is booked full, every bulk-head spot is taken, and the marine traffic is insane. Not this year. Plenty of free (not secure) bulk-head dockage. Marinas not full. Fells Point was almost a ghost town as we walked through this weekend. It seems the global economy ain't all that great?

Kurt - that does not surprise me. 2mil federal employees (does not include military) and none of them getting a check at the moment and half of them not likely to be back paid. I bet the majority are in our area too. Not much reason to go out and celebrate. I am headed to Annapolis today for the boat show. It will be interesting to see how many folks are there.

As far as the Bahamas etc. goes looking over the Caloosahatchee River we don't see much traffic any more. Pascal have you made the trip at this time before? It's sort of the in between season now with regard to the Bahamas right? H-season is dying down, but not dead so folks are holding off until it's over?
The traffic on Chris Parker's webcast is starting to increase.

No never been here in October. It's really weird because big majors aka pigs beach is really the central exumas hub and I am the only one here. The pigs must be starving,,, :)

Christmas and spring break are the peak times, and I guess the summertime is a little busy. we were here mid January this year and it was pretty quiet too with about half the boats we usually see.

I guess th snowbirds are still up on the ICW since many insurers put limits on far south they can be before the end of the hurricane season

ICW between St. Augustine and Daytona has been very quiet this week. Maybe boats are holed up waiting to see what TS Karen is going to do. But, I fished 3 days this week and didn't see a single transit boat any day.

Everyone is in Miami for Univ of Miami Family Weekend.
I am here!
Weather is great.

If the fronts are not rolling in Oct. is a nice time to be there. The water is not to cold yet,
a lot of the charter boats are not over there and the holiday traffic has not started.
