The keypad gate at PBM is officially blocked.

The end is near...

I noticed that as well Mike. How will you get in and out?

Liberty Landing is open 24x7, 365............

No sissy mary restrictions on when you can or can't boat!!!!

It has nothing to do with "sissy mary restictions", PBM hauls and stores so many boats that they have to fill up the parking lot with them.

It's the price we pay to keep our boats at the best marina in the tri-state areaa!

Besides that there is still the other gate...PBM takes care of us well....

Butch, shhhhh, I was trying to keep that quiet...

Oh man, I thought something had happened to someone by the title, this is just an occurrence by virtue of time! You have to have an end anyway in order to have a new beginning in Spring, you should take joy in the pad being blocked.

But if you want to talk about "very sad news" think about our vets who sacrifice so we can do our thing on the river. Maybe we should commit to taking them out for a ride next Memorial Day (the Saturday or Sunday) as a show of gratitude. We can take vets from Montrose and Castle Point Hospitals out for an hour ride from Peekskill and New Hamburg marinas. Seems to me we should be able to get 20 guys from each area to pitch in to take a vet and a friend out on the river. Didn't Yogi say life is 50% circumstances and 90% how you deal with it?

So get back to me after you get over this "very sad news." Oh, there's a ball game on tonight too....[:-baseball]

George, that is an interesting idea, why don't you see what it would entail and post the details here - I am certainly interested.

OK, I'll contact The Lieutenant, he's in public affairs at the Pentagon, ask if he can get me a contact person up here to get a list of local men/women who would be able to take part. If things were set up over the winter it could be a nice give back to the armed forces community in our locale.

I can handle arrangements at White's Marina up here, is there someone who could find out if one of the marinas or yacht clubs in the Montrose vicinity could be a take off site? TIA

I'd love to be a part of this. Anything I could do to say "Thank You" to them.

Boating is an amazing thing, whenever I take my father(74) out, he seems to be so relaxed. Even if all we do is go for an hour run up the river, it is just the most peacefull thing.

MJK

This is an absolutely terrific idea.

My uncle is very active in the wounded warriors project and has worked with Iraq war amputees on projects taking them both snow and water skiing. I will reach out to him and ask some questions as well.

George - can I suggest that you start a new discussion with an associated title so folks know where to go to gather and post information? I'm willing to donate some time and energy to help set this up.

Is that the same marina that when you come and go at low tide you risk damaging your props on something "Hard" on the bottom..

No, I think I prefer 12' under my boat at low tide.

I will say that PBM is the only place that I take my boat for repairs and I also Winter there..

Happy Winter..[:-shake]

Leigh, it's the first time it happened in seven years of boating there, coming and going at low tide. This was an exceptionally low one. So now I know that if I want to go out when the water is that low, I'll have to wait another 1/2 hour.

I don't need 12' of water, I only need 3'. I gladly give up the unneeded 9' for the service, responsiveness and family-like atmosphere we have at PBM.

OOh OOh OOh - Marina Catfight......

I vote for Haverstraw for the depth or water and the calmness without getting knocked off of the bed in the middle of the night by a passing barge.

Penny bridge is very nice though so I give a good second.

Sorry about hi-jacking the thread, this should be the last of it.

On the other hand, I've got a customer with his boat (MaryAnn - 32'Chap) at PBM for the winter, could you keep an eye on it for him? And I really don't have a lot of sympathy for you guys 'cause you start that countdown thing and it always ends about 2 months before we go in! Have a nice weekend....G

Rob, if you're getting "knocked off of the bed" you need a bigger boat, or a better bed!

Is that an offer?

Actually a smaller boat will be nicer

Got to wave the flag for the newly enlarged Patsy's Bay. They are beautiful people...a real family.
They welcomed us, placed us in a great slip on a brand new dock, with cable TV, super neighbors.
With the prospect of twice as many slips, there's an opportunity for a lot more boaters to enjoy Patsy's hopitality, not to mention the store, the service and the good food at their snack bar. Super pool too.
Is there deep water 100% of the time? No, but I'm willing to accept that, because it's my idea of a great escape in every other respect.
BTW, this is not a paid commercial, just an honest report from someone who has been around marinas for the last 35 years, and has seen his share of less-than-friendly ones.

I have to say, 12 foot of water is nice to have under you, that is till you drop something in and have to get it back....Ill take that 3' any time.....
PBM is the only place to be....We may get a little rock and rolling at times but I dont mind...This way my fellow boaters are not sure whats going on in my boat.....
