Vic--

One of our heads is an older, well it came with the boat, Crown, CW9012 that is starting to give me a pain. It has trouble pumping out solid waste, the bowl will fill with raw water but getting it out is another matter. No problmes with liquid waste. After awhile I can get it to pump out but this is not the way things are supposed to be.

I did notice the joker valve was sort of stiff, not pliable as I would expect so I just placed an order with BoatFix for a replacement, should arrive this week based on prior orders with BoatFix. Replacing the joker is simple but ripping the entire head apart is another matter.

What should I be looking for? The head seems too good to chuck but if it comes to purchasing a complete new motor/pump assembly I might as well purchase the entire head.

Thanks-

Foggy

Foggy, can you get the serial number of the head? It might be a very simple repair...

Vic-- the numbers on the Crown Head Lower Base are:

Model CL12 Serial #003074

Thanks--

Based on the serial number, it dates back to the early '90's. You basically need to replace one part in the macerator/discharge pump end of it. The # CH120 Discharge Pump Wall. This is a consumable part that needs to be replaced every 3 or 4 years. They wear away with age, and when they aren't there any more - or when they aren't exactly in the proper place, the head WILL NOT pump out any solids at all, however liquids will pass, but at a much slower rate than before. Sound familiar? Replacing that part will usually restore the head to proper operation. It can be ordered as an individual part, or it is also included in the Repair Kit for the head, # CSRK

Scroll down and look for Mfr's part # in next to last column on the right; both are listed there...

Vic-- Please accept my most gracious thanks for your valuable help!!! I am anxious for the new part to arrive.

Vic--

I installed the discharge pump wall purchased from BoatFix along with a new joker valve. Tough getting the new part in but its in there.

TOILET PERFORMANCE!!!! OPERATES LIKE A BRAND NEW HEAD!! Geez, good thing you were around to diagnos my problem.

Thanks---
