I had my bottom sandblasted this past fall to remove many years of built up paint. Probably should have looked for a less invasive process as portions of the bottom now look cratered like the surface of the moon. I've asked my yard for an estimate of doing a barrier coat job, but I'm not looking forward to hearing their price. In the conversation with them they indicated that they use now use vinylester for complete bottom jobs on the larger baots and only use epoxy for smaller boats and some repairs. I remember reading a while back that vinylester is being used more and more because it's a much easier product to work with and as opposed to epoxy and is supposed to be just as good. Has anyone used vinylester on their bottom and is this a job that I should consider doing myself?
