I went to WWW.Free Fun Files.com to download it and got a virus AVG free cannot handle. If you have downloaded it anywhere, I hope you have a good anti-virus program.

I removed it with another program, and I am scanning my entire hard drive to see if it is lurking elsewhere.

TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE DOWNLOADED IT WITHOUT A VIRUS, WHERE DID YOU DOWNLOAD IT?

Think I should post this to the main forum? Or is this program sort of a local thing?
I never heard of it before.

I downloaded the program two years ago, but I got it from the original source: wxtides32.com. which is still online (I just checked). It's still a free program. Maybe the problem is you did not get the download from the right place. WXtides has been having trouble with bootleg copies getting sold on eBay. Maybe Free Fun Files threw in some not-so-fun free garbage along with the tide program.

I downloaded it from yzer's link about a year ago. No viruses. Thanks, yzer!

I just downloaded it...with some trepidations. I'll scan now with AVG and then norton. I'll post results. Takes about 3 hrs each.:(

OK! AVG : No virus.

Will start norton now.

I had a virus checker panic when I tried to install it, it was due to a file name ending with ".exe.zip" I just told it to calm down and let it run. It hasn't wiped out the computer, if it's a problem, it's not something that's crashed the computer, which is not to say it's not a problem if it truly exists.

I didn't get it from the "source", that is why I told you where NOT to go.

I will attempt to download it from the correct source tomorrow, I am on my laptop now.

Thanks for the link...

Ran norton and nothing showed up....BUT all day today my laptop wouldn't work right. Spent all day trying to run anti virus/spyware from AVG and norton but everything was slowed down so much it took 8 hrs to run AVG antispy..found hijacker.small...second time I got it.

System restore wouldn't work. Don't know what I'm doing but things are slowly coming back. This is the first time I've been able to get online.

Piter,
I downloaded from WXtide32. I can't say for sure I got a bug from it but I'm back to normal now.

Charlie,
I didn't use the SimTel (third party) site but rather the one below that which is from the originator, WXtide32. It appears to be a clean version w/o and adware, viruses & etc.
