Looking for a Volvo mechanic in the Dania/Hollywood/Lauderdale area. Any suggestions?
 
Sorry...have a diesel one...Footloose may know of one in that area...he seems to do the most work of anyone on his boat!
 
Harry, Mike at Intermarine is certified and very good. A little expensive, I think; but good. 954-894-9895
 
Thanks, but I'm almost glad my warranty on the engines has expired, because now I don't have to deal with Mike Farmer at Intermarine (where I bought the boat). I noticed in other places on BoaterEd that I am not the only one who has a dismal view of the service department there. Maddening, simply maddening.

Anybody ever hear of/use Mango Marine?
 
I've had a few problems with Mike, but worse, I've had somebody else that turned out fairly clueless screw up my ignition switch and my stereo remotes just to install a VHF radio. I think I would rather go with someone who knows what they're doing even if it's not done to my time.
 
A couple of years back I used Powerhouse Marina in North Miami. They did the job ok, very expensive and took what a relative long time. Then I found a good mechanic from Hallandale that would come to the dock to work on the boat, time was fair, work was fine but he is gone now.

And like a few others here I am now looking for a good fair marine mechanic in S Florida, preferable in Miami area to work on my boat. I have twin I/O Volvos.

I have noticed a few posts about a few mechanics. It seems that everytime someone asks about a mechanic there is one thumbs up and one thumbs down....
 
Found one. A guy by the name of Don Holub. He's an engineer, can fix/troubleshoot/redesign/improve just about anything. Reasonably priced. He's new to the area and looking for work.

I use Burt Kolleda at Eagle Marine in Delray Beach. Works on Volvo (Certified) & Merc's. He even has been known to make house calls.

Gberg, Is this the same Pop's Boat that pointed out the manatee on the ICW in Boca last Saturday to the couple in the 26 foot Regal?

Yep, same couple. They were pretty active group. I have been down in Key West for a couple of weeks. Just got back. Will be heading north before Labor Day. We should get together.
