VP AQ260 V8 stalls when hot and won't restart

Hello,

Just started getting an issue of my starboard engine stalling out at a slow cruise when hot, will not re-start until completely cold. The strange part is when I turn it over while my port engine is running, it seems as though a load goes onto the port engine and almost stalls that one... Otherwise runs and starts perfectly when cold...

Any ideas appreciated!

Yup, swapped the coil, no change.

Why would turning over the port engine suddenly now feel the load of this starboard engine? Completely separate wiring; also charge different battery banks.
 
Do you have one alternator for both engines? Or one batt connected for both engines.

Listen to the starter whining after the engine is started...like it isn't disengaging...both engines.
 
Each engine has its own alternator. One alternator charges the house bank, the other charges the start bank. Completely isolated from eachother except for the bonding system. Both starters disengage properly. I'm stumped on this one...
 
It may be a bad ECM or connection to cable to the ECM.
 
loading the other engine sounds like the cranking engine is drawing lots of amps from the running engine. It sounds weird but check all battery connections or even bad battery and use a hydrometer to check battery cells. A bad battery or connection may change when hot and can stop the engine.

Be nice if you could check the battery voltages hot at the cables and at the terminals when the engine stops.

That means your twin engines are combined as one electrical system. Wire it correctly, a dedicated battery for each engine and a isolated house battery .
