Gotta vent.......
Yesterday, cruising back into the Anchorage up on plane and as usual, just past the inside bouys, I came off (or started to), coming out was a 55 (at least) Searay. I noticed at the last minute that this "skipper" decided to bury the throttles just past the docks obviously creating a huge wake, I attempted to throttle up and take the wake to the bow but too late. I actually got thrown from my chair on to the bridge floor, banged my head a few times on the shifters effectivley putting me into a tight starboard turn and this "skipper" merrily went on their way.......not even a glance behind them.........
After lickin my wounds and pronouncing my distaste for the inconsideration with several Nautical (universal) hand gestures I got the bleeding to stop and checked for damage below.
I'm all for, if you can afford it buy it, and what not but jeez, does everyone understand that regardless of what everyone else does, you're still responsible for your wake? A boat that size surley requires the person in charge to apply a little conservative wisdom when dealing with other much smaller traffic. I have to assume that someone operating a boat of this magnitude has "some" experience if not 10 times mine so why would they consider this to be okay? Just because they're allowed to go fast? BTW, traffic was heavy inbound and out.
As a prologue, this river is where SS-3 is. I know many of the skippers and sales staff over there and I could only "hope" that they have more consideration, my gut tells me this wasn't one of em'.
Just cant get over the nonchalance (spelling...sorry) of this persons total disregard for anyone elses safety.....just downright disgustin....hope you're reading this....
