Anybody else here keep their boat at the Walnut Grove Marina? Mine is on F dock. A shame about the boats lost in the fire. Still haven't heard the cause.

3birds, a friend of mine is planning to leave Grass Valley and move down to the delta and go back to living aboard a boat. From what I've read, Walnut Grove Marina has liveaboards. Do you know the availability of the liveaboard berths there?

I looked up the saddening accounts and photos on the media sites. Awful!

A covered slip is a wonderful thing till a fire. That said, it seems to me that uncovered wouldn't have delayed the outcome all that much. Not after the first propane tank exploded. All those houseboats were nested together almost like a row house.

Electrical issues are my usual suspects. If they were on shore tie, and a fault within a boat or marina wiring created a path to salt water, the current flow could create enough heat to kindle a fire. Amazing what investigators can determine. We'll have to see.

Please post any updates you find.

Ginman, I spoke with the assistant harbor master and he said that the new management is no longer accepting liveaboards. Mostly due to the type of person wanting to live on a boat.

Thanks, 3birds. Will forward the info. Looks like Oxbow is once of the last marinas to allow liveaboards.

I like Oxbow. Owned by the same folks as Willowberm. Might try there although it's spendy for the Delta.
