I saw the email too Rob, was nice to see some good news about my favorite spot on Fire Island!

BTW, I saw another report that there are still 2 breaches on FI but they are going to work to close them.

I heard one was East of the smths point bridge and that it would have to be managed by Suffolk County since its on parkland. The other is in the Otis Pike area on federal land near Old Inlet. I personally think leaving the one by Old Inlet open would be a good thing for the Great South Bay, the bay could use a good flushing out. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I would love to see more clean water come into the GSB. It being navigable would be even better!

My favorite part of going thru Moriches is seeing the clear blue water. Wouldn't it be great if we had the same.

Something positive from this devastation would be a good thing for us boaters!

There has been talk from different groups about opening up a new inlet to better flush the bay but the downside of another inlet and more water flow is potentially greater tide swings, more storm surge and more flooding.

Many years ago there was a second inlet. But probably a lot less homes on the water back then.

Hence the name "Old Inlet". Was that the 2nd inlet? It would make sense based on the name alone.
