Water Diaphragm Pump Cycles On and Off

My water diaphragm pump cycles on and off every minute or two. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?
 
You might want to post in a different forum like electric, plumbing. My guess would be a faulty pressure switch or a leak. Good luck.
 
Could be air in the lines or a small leak.
I have heard the pump bump now and then, it is under the V-berth.
I just get up and run some water in the sink a few seconds and that usually stops it.
Don't know what makes it do that. It just does. It happens most after we run the water
out and refill the tank. I try to keep fresh water in the tank and lines every other
week.
 
how old is the pump, what model?

could be a faucet that's left dripping (dont forget stern showers and anchor wash down) otherwise could be a defective / leaky diaph or just some debris stuck in the diaph.
 
My dancer did that for a long time. 'til I got off my butt and looked for the leak. Found it at the discharge fitting. Was barely finger tight and keeping the bilge wet. A little tef tape and pair of pliers applied judiciously fixed it.
 
I had this happen on my 300 DA. Turned out that the dockside water inlet was leaking just a little bit and allowing pressure to bleed off causing the pump to run, a new inlet fitting and problem solved.
 
Best way to test if its the pump is to get a end cap and stick it right after the pump.
If it holds pressure then its not the pump and it has to be a leak.
 
Had a similar problem
Finally got ambitious and tightened up all the hoses clamps I
could get to that were on the water system.
Found two that I could tighten about 1/2 a turn.
Bingo, no more pump cycling.

Certainly not an issue that would be limited to Sea Rays. Questions like this would be better served in the other forum as noted by Golfman. BTW, my money is on a small leak somewhere in the system. Had the same issue on my Carver years ago and it took some serious crawling around through the bilges to find it. Turned out to be a cracked fitting.
 
had the same problem on a 45 searay eb found it to be a leaking hot water tank safty valve. it would drain into the a/c sump overflow tube and not the bilge. hope this helps.
 
Problem resolved. It was a leak as most of you suggested. It was a small leak in the hose connecting to the washdown spigot. It was dripping down to the transom and then going down a drain. Thanks for those who replied.
