Anybody know how to get the water heater out of one of these?

Greg,
Not familiar with your ride, but based on your question, did the designers start with a hot water heater and build a boat around it?

Looks like that's exactly what they did. This is my brother's boat, not mine. The water heater has heat exchanger lines that you can't access to remove!!! Looks like he's going to have to get the sawzall out and come in from above.

look at it a long time first it takes at least 1 six pack,to figure it out.. just changed all the poop hose on my 3607 and Coors made some money

I had to replace the house water pump on my Carver a few years ago. Only took an hour or 2 to do it, but I looked at it and puzzled over it for many more hours before the light bulb went off as to how to do it.

on my 406 the water tank comes out first. Then disconnect the water heater, slide it forward to where the water tank sat, then pull it out. I don't for sure but I believe your systems are designed similar to mine.

Ouch, he got an answer back from Carver today on how to do it. THey told just where to cut with the Sawzall thru fibergalss to allow it's removal. Nice forethought on the design.

please place some before and after photos. I'm glad I have one of the old square boats. I just have to take the top off of the aft cabin bed to get to my water tanks and heater plus a 50 gallon C.H.T. tank.

Chief, it was my brother's boat. He did it this weekend. Lots of cutting to get the unit out. He didn't take any pictures.

Chief this is Gregs brother Tom The fix works like this , Take the Dinette apart, there is a small access panel on the right side of it. You can expand it somewhat. Reach down and disconnect the return lines from the back of the tank. Unscrew the four screws holding the tank down back there. Disconnect all the plumbing on the front of the water tank and unscrew the four screws holding it down in the front. Next move all the hoses and boxes for your air condidtoning out of the way (it will slide down into the bildge) next cut about 1/4 of a inch off the hatch on each side , you only have to do this where the water heater touches. It almost will get up thru the hatch but you will have to cut some . If you can find a roto zip saw use one of those. Go buy a new water heater and just do everything in reverse.

Tom, what happened with the heater? I have 97 355AC, and I just looked at mine. I will have the same problem, although worse since I have filled the void space below the hatch with four golf cart batteries and inverter.
