Water Still Stinks!

I too have a water problem. Like many have done, I pumped out as much water as possible then added a quart of bleach (to 20 gallons) and refilled. I made sure the bleach/water was pumped through all the faucets. Then I let this sit for 4 hours and pumped it out. Then I refilled and added a quart of white vinegar.
This seemed to work for a couple weeks, but now the water reeks again! Should I try again? Should I let the bleach/water sit longer?
 
On first fill up; I pour about 6-8 oz. of bleach to 60 gallon fresh water tank. I also add a rounded teaspoon full of Starbrite Water conditioner. It calls for 1 level teaspoon per 100 gallon but I go with the slightly extra. I have yet to find anything better for keeping water sweet. We don't drink or cook with it but do wash or shower with it if on the hook or away from dock. BTW it's a granular power.
 
some water heaters have an anode that causes stinks when it fails. ask Vic.
 
How many times did you re-fill your water tank in those "couple of weeks" before it started to smell bad again?
 
Primary source of water [well, city system etc] may be your problem. If so, you will need to filter or condition your water everytime you fill your tank.

None, only the once with white vinegar.

Yes, I followed the article to the letter. I'm going to try again. Also, it's the cold water, not just the hot. So I don't think it's the heater element. And the water supply seems O.K. plus my dock neighbors do not have the same issue.
 
My last boat I could not get the chemical plastic flavor out no matter how much I flushed it. I finely traced the lines and found the PO had used a cheep green garden hose. I replaced that and problem solved.
 
My 2 cents here.
Maybe the water tank or tubing has some bacterial growth that still needs get rid off. You "killed" most of it with the bleach treatment but the dead stuff and the "survivors" are still there attached.
Continue with the bleach treatments for awhile.
