Hi,

I have a 1987 3297 Mariner with two water tanks under salon floor which I a trying to remove. It looks like the fiberglass steps need to be removed to expose wood floor for removal. Does anyone have experience with this for some advice.

thanks,
ja

Ooh, that looks challenging! I hope someone can share some expertise here...

Got some time now for those special projects since the cold has finally gotten here in N.Y....

I have a 3697 mariner and did mine.. I was able to get them out through the floor hatches (barely )

If I remember right, there is a big access hatch over the tank in the 3297. Problem is, you have to cut or remove the carpet to gain access to it. The hatch will be screwed in place and be slightly larger than the tank(s)

Thanks will take a look for larger hatch but pretty sure that the wood floor goes under back fiberglass steps and fiberglass dinette. Carpet is out and do have access way (hatch) that is removable (with carpet on top) that gives me access to tanks (tanks seem to stratle hatch opening). Do have two angle iron (aluminum)that lay starboard to port screwed in under wood floor that impeded taking tanks directly out.

David did you remove yours from salon hatch or the galley hatch?

Thank you for all of ideas.

ja

I have a larger hatch that sort of stradles the galley and salon that runs down the middle. I had to remove the water heater and cut the straps and they came out one at a time. I had to re-plank under tham as they where all shot to heck.
