Wow, memories there.
Good place across the street, not sure if still there, Tuto pazzo or something like that.

So why do you need a romantic waterfront place?
Popping the question?

That place used to be called the Harbor Inn. Coco's had great memories until trying to avoid roadblocks on the way home.

Billy, I went to Whitman '76 grad

grew up just east of the whitman mall.

Perry,

Huntington '75. Big fan of Cooney, I saw almost all his fights. Small world.

Forget the "park" next to Knudsons. Our boat was at Knudson Marina for many years until this season. I wouldn't walk the dog at that park after dark. Teens, beer and lots of litter. Enjoy the view from Prime and a walk downtown.

In Centerport, and on the water is the Mill Pond Inn and the Thatched Cottage. They're right next to each other, and both are also good, but I like Prime better. Also, no real town to explore afterward.

If you have "found someone," keep in mind that there are many great jewelry stores in Huntington Village. Don't ask me how I know :)

Billy, yes, went to school with the Cooney clan. Most of his fights didn't last very long.

Duck, thanks but am no where near the jewelry thing yet...but do agree on the walk thru town.

Thatched Cottage, I thought that place closed years ago. I think I went to a prom there eons ago.

The web has everything. I thought i'd find something funny but googling first date found pages of suggestions.

perry - thatched cottage is still there but is for catering only. next door is a new restaurant that just opened called jelly fish (by the same owners as thatched cottage). not sure but they probably serve peanut butter and jellyfish sandwiches. mill pond is next door to jelly fish.

big hitter, that lama.

Perry... Prime is top shelf. No better setting, food or final bill in terms of $$$$! Real nice for a first date for sure. One of the top places on the Island. Just don't go there on a Thursday night. All those steakhouses have a losers, older singles scene going Thursday nights. Seems like all the guidos (can say it cause I am married to a wonderful Italian woman!) and such come out and it can be a very annoying scene. Any other night works great. Good luck.

perfect, thanks for everyone's input. Really is much appreciated and what this website's all about.

Hey wait a minute. You are sending him to the best place in town. What do all you folks think he's going to do if he gets a second date?

If you go to Prime and are a carnivore I strongly recommend the 40oz ‘Tellers ribeye”

Then I can start dragging her to the places I know...

Some examples: Fat Fish, Trumpets, Dockers, Harvest, Rumba, Oaklands, Tidewaters plus a few more lesser known places on the north fork.

Andy,
Somehow I don't think that will impress her! LOL!

Good point! All downhill after Prime for sure! But then he doesn't have to impress. Reality sets in and takes over until he wants to pop the question. Back to Prime!

ahahahahahaha, I don't think that will be happening for quite some time.

also, I checked the 'book' on ordering a 40oz chunk o' meat on a first date...probably doesn't' get me to the 2nd date. lol

but, i could easily knock off that 40...

Hey you can take home the leftovers for your Dog or your poor Aunt XXX that you care for- that may get you somewhere?

Perry,
If she lives in Huntington, she may have been to this place and has done the Huntington gig, IMO, that won't score points, just saying???

Best of luck wherever you go, hope all works out.

Listen...you put that 40 down and I'm eating it....lol

Thanks all...I'll keep trying.

Then I can go back to thinking about the larger boat.

Pick a nice place, but don't set the bar too high for the second. A place that's quiet enough to hear each other and has good food is a good choice.
Don't drink too much. We all get a little stupid when we drink. Drunk and stupid won't get you a second date.
If she gets drunk and stupid it will probably make for a good ending to the date though.
Huntington Village is nice because it's a good place to do a walk and talk after dinner.
She may ask you about yourself, but as much as she wants to know about you she is more interested in talking about herself. Act interested in what she has to say.
That will probably get you to a second date.
If things progress to the jewelry thing, take two aspirins and lay down until the feeling goes away.
