Well, we survived Arthur by pulling into Saybrook Point Marina. Swam in the indoor pool and hung out in the Jacuzzi.

Off to Mystic today and then Block tomorrow or Monday.

I hope the crappy weather is now a thing of the past.

Stupid Arthur.
 
Great news . Does that marina still get wave action at the changing of tides ?

It used to be worse in the marina then outside the marina

Met up with Hogan and family at Mystic. A little choppy but overall a great run. Looking forward to some fresh clams and calamari right from the water to the plate.
 
I think it only gets choppy there when the wind is from the southeast. It was not bad at all during the storm (30+ MPH NNE winds). We came to Brewer's Mystic yesterday, the sound was a bit choppy, but not unbearable. The marina here is great, nice pool, and an easy walk to town.

Went to the Daniel Packer Inne with Anchor Management last night, where we had an excellent meal. Decided to stay here until tomorrow, when we'll head over to Block.

The GM here told me that there were very nasty conditions in the Great Salt Pond during Arthur and that a sailboat got hit by lightning. He said the boats rafted in Payne's & Champlins took a real beating.
 
Hopefully lots got aggravated and left so we can get premium slips. Great day today. Going to dingy over to Hogans marina to sneak into his pool.
 
We were in Champlins for tropical storm Ernesto a few years ago. Thankfully it was not full but I can see how boats would take a beating if they were rafted. It was a mess.

He came over by kayak, and did not go into our pool. He's coming back with his admiral to BBQ dinner with us
 
Glad to hear you guys are having a good time!

We had about 7 boats rafted to the fireworks in Bowline and I must say the show gets better every year, they out did themselves this year!

I just got home and I'm wiped out from so much sun and relaxation:)
 
We stayed in greenport extra day. At montauk now and debating about block. Seems high south wind today, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will just keep building the swell making for 9 foot seas on trip home Wednesday. May go elsewhere

We decided to stay in montauk.
Heard it was building a big swell thru Wednesday when we leave.
Decided not worth the trip to get stuck there.
 
Hogan and I just arrived. We had about 6 foot seas and the wind was whipping at Champlins. Fortunately it was a safe journey and a successful landing.
 
Yeah this wind is not gonna let up until Thursday.
Windy here all day. Looked nasty out there
 
Having a great time at Block, sunny and warm. Lobster fest planned for tonight. The marina is filling up.
 
Still plenty of open slips, no one other than me in this well
 
Yes, very nice people in a 64' Pershing.

We left Block this morning, before the wind kicked up, and had a nice ride over to Newport. Here for a couple of days now.
 
I have NEVER seen Block Island so empty! And not just Champlins, everything is desolate...
 
That's very odd! I hope it is not packed in a few weeks when I hope to get there. On the flip side I hope the businesses are still doing OK!
 
Maybe people are tired of being ripped off by these marinas. I know it is a lot of fun but they are out of control with their prices. Tell me how I could possibly use 50 bucks worth of electricity per day. Add it to the price per foot and stop trying to insult boaters intelligence. Just one example of course. Heres another.. Bought a gallon of Poland Spring in the store there. It was over 5 bucks. Higher then diesel fuel per gallon. Price per foot out here is crazy as well. Not just here but all over LI sound but this has already been covered in other posts. Just ranting.....
