We had a very nice cruise this weekend. We put in at Beacon Harbor Marina on Bethel Island on Friday afternoon. We took our time (5MPH)on a slow trip around the whole island but found almost all bars and eating establishments were closed up. That night we found the Rusty Porthole open for a couple drinks and appetizers. Slept like babies on the boat at the marina that night. Nothing like falling asleep on your boat. Next day we cruised on down to Stockton to look at the new marina. Had lunch along the docks there. A warning note...the gate to the docks say that the restaurnants will give you a code to get back thru the gate. Well they did but it did not work, we called back and they gave us three more that did not work. Fortunately my buddy is pretty agile and managed to climb aroung the gate without going swimming. From there up to Rio Vista and dinner at Fosters Big Horn and another restful night at the Delta Marina. The next day it was up river to Vieira's for breakfast and Al the Wops for lunch and then home. Wonderful weather although we got a little lost around Bethel Island in the fog on Saturday morning. After passing the same blue crane (equipment not bird) three times I got a little disgusted and waited out the fog for an hour or so. Good trip all the way around.

Sounds like you had fun. What kind of boat do you have? I'm looking forward to hopefully a lot of long relaxing boating trips this spring and summer. Will definitely have to get out to the delta more.

DBH, your trip sounds pretty typical for this time of year!

If the weather is nice for Opening Day, Bethel Island will be jumping and the entire island is a party!!! Bad weather forces everyone inside and discourages some boaters.

Mark your calendar: April 17th; theme is "Building Bridges"; all boats are welcome to participate; no membership or fees. The clubhouse is open to the public that day.

Wayne,

My boat is a 24 ft Trophy, actually a fishing boat. I spend most of the summer chasing salmon (well I used to ) and halibut in Santa Cruz. Its basicaly rigged out for offshore fishing but sleeps two very comfortably down below and is a marvelous boat for just plain cruisin around.

Flutterby,....thanks for the invite, sounds marvelous to me. I will see what i can do to get up that way.
