I recently bought a 1990 Bayliner Avanti (37). The boat is in very good shape, but hasn't been waxed in a few years so the hull is quite oxidized.

I've used the 3M compound/polish and the 3M paste wax on my last boat and it worked well, but that boat was always maintained well.

My problem is that I don't seem to be able to get the wax on without streaks. Some of this is due to how I applied it (with a rag and too much wax I believe now).

There are so many products out there, and the Toronto Boat show is on next week so I'll see even more.

Any help and advice on products or procedures would be helpful.

I have an orbital (grinder style) polisher, but am going to replace with the Makita or Porter Cable - mine is HEAVY.

I should mention that the white part of the hull hasn't yellowed at all.
I just can't seem to get the marina to do the job, so I'm going to have to do it myself!
