Our group is based out of the Sandusky area. The long cruise will take us into Lake St. Clair and then to Wallaceburg, Ont. Stopping at North Channel Yacht and cruising the back bays in our dingys, stopping at Browns.

Several trips to Put n Bay and the surrounding islands will also be on tap. The new dock layouts at Downtown Put n Bay, as well as the addition of Park Place has improved the area big time.

Normally we go east on even # years but I think we will go west again this year. Stops will be Fairport, Cleveland, Sandusky, PIB and Middle Bass for the ILYA powerboat regatta then work our way back home stopping at ports that we skipped over on the way west

We boat out of Marblehead, OH. We are planning a trip to Lake St. Clair, possibly up to Port Huron. We have done Leamington, Pelee, Middle Bass, Kelly's and PIB over the last couple of years and are looking to spread our wings a bit.

Dustcutter - We are planning to head back to Put-In-Bay during the first two weeks of July 2016. You mention Downtown Put n Bay and Park Place in your post above. Would you prefer either one of these marinas over Millers? I like not being subjected to rafting if possible and ideally I like to keep our inflatable in the water attached to our davits when staying in Put-In-Bay. I welcome anyone else's comments on dockage options as well.
Thanks,
Mike.

Split Decision
If you have not been to Put n Bay in the last year and half, you are in for a pleasant surprise. Docks A & C have been rebuilt and finger docks have been added. Park place is the new facility over by the ferry docks. Same owner as Boardwalk. Both have membership available. They are open to the public when there are open docks. Most weekends do sell out but weather is always an issue. However, at the end of the day, you just can't beat Millers. Our group stays there about 3 times per season. Quiet, not to far from town, no rafting. By the end of April they sell out for the entire season. It is best to pick dates early and make reservations. Holiday weekends usually require a 3 day mandatory booking. Don't forget about Middle Bass, new marina, lots of docks. Ferry shuttle service over to Put n Bay on the
Sunny S. Also very clean & quiet. State of Ohio spent over 10 mill on this place. They will take and hold reservations for you. Docks are very nice. Marina club house open to boaters. Also check out J F Walleyes & Hazards for food and entertainment on Middle Bass.

Dustcutter - Thanks for the info. We have not been to Put-In-Bay for three years now. It was in our first two weeks of July boating vacation plans last year to go, but Lake Erie ended up being snotty for the first couple of days that we wanted to travel so we ended up going across Lake St. Clair and up to Port Huron instead, then spending time at the various Michigan Marinas we like before heading back to home port.

This coming 2016 boating vacation, we would plan to arrive in Put-In-Bay mid week since we'll probably find mid week busy enough for us especially during the first two weeks of July. We have family members that want to meet up with us while at Put-In-Bay. They want to ferry over and rent a cottage or hotel in Put-In-Bay. We like Miller's, but do like to try new marinas if Park Place would seem to give us a decent view while docked and we could leave our inflatable down. We did want to try Middle Bass as well.

We use Ford Yacht Club or BobLo Island as a jumping off point. This is for your weather window. From there its only 35 miles to Put N Bay. 8 am or 5 pm, the Lake is usually the calmest. Blue Luna is one of the better eating places on Put n Bay. Also check out the entertainment schedule which gets published the first quarter. Some of the bands are outstanding.

Who is interested in a 2016 kick off cruise to Middle Bass Island. Memorial day weekend. Bring your dinghy, as we will be heading over to North Bass to do some exploring. Cook out on Sunday.

Hope you can make it. We are also out of Marblehead, East Harbor area. Bar Harbor. Short ride to everything. Almost to close. I heard that the State is going to put a new marina by the State Park. The have dredged all of East Harbor over the last several years. Middle Bass will start taking reservation on April 1. 78 days to launch.

Ron,

We are also in East Harbor at SkipperBud's. I store my boat over at Midway Marina on Catawba, because the previous owner kept it there. LOOOONNNGGGG Story, i can tell you over a beer sometime.

See if this works for you. We are heading up to Lake St. Clair and Sarnia. Leaving July 16 and returning July 26. Right now we have about 5 or 6 boats going. When you 216 get a 570 chance call 0092. I will send all information to you.

Ron

Ron,

Thank you for the information about your plans, I don't think that will work for our group as we were looking to travel around the 4th. We are planning our trip for June 30th - July 8th. We leave for Leamington on the 30th and stay through the 2nd, then work our way up to Macray Harbor with a stay over at Boblo Island. We will stay at Macray from the 3rd through the 6th and work our way back to East Harbor with a layover at Kean's or Jefferson Beach. We expect 8 or 9 boats going to Leamington and only 4 - 5 boats continuing up to Lake St. Clair.

Eric

We have Middle Bass for Memorial, Vermilion for fish fest, Paper District, June 26, Scudders at Pelee July 1&2, Middle Bass July 3&4, July 16 to 26 long trip, August for Leamington Tomato fest, Labor Day at the Bay. Still have lots of time open. Average 120 hrs a year.
