I really dislike threads like this, the story is never complete enough for some one else to make an educated recommendation.... but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.
On Feb. 06 we had a survey performed on a 2004 Meridian 411 by a very well respected surveyor in our area. SAMS, NAMS member and possibly some ABYC affiliation. He was recommended by several people we know and has a quite a resume built up over the years as well as a very good reputation. This was also our very first survey but far from our first boat over the years.
The survey went well, he was very articulate and quite thorough. Explained every thing to me in detail. The written survey however was about as simple as you can imagine, lacking detail and missing points that were stressed as "needs immediate attention" items. Maybe our expectations were too high? Maybe my level of knowledge was at a point that he felt simplicity was acceptable?
In addition to the survey we paid $50 x 5 for oil samples. They were to be sent to a "top notch" lab in FL. I understood that the results would be in our hands in a week, my wife understood that it would be about 3 weeks.
On March 29th I emailed him asking for the oil sample results. He didn't know who I was even though I included the boat model name, year and manufacture (how many 2004 Meridian 411 surveys do you think he had done in the last 3 months?). I emailed him the survey doc and he called me to apologize for not getting them to me sooner, he was sure that he had sent them to me. He called back shortly after, claimed he called the lab and and he would have them Monday April 3rd and would forward them to me that afternoon, with his apologies.
It's now May 6th and not a word. Do I give him an opportunity to get the results to me and forget about it? Do I ask for my $250 back?
I don't like the guy and will never use him again, or recommend him for that matter (i'm sure it shows in my post) but his office is in our marina and I would like to be careful. I am reaching the point where I could care less if I pi$$ him off... might actually make me feel better :-D My wife say's that this post is just me venting and it's not doing any body any good, but I am starting to feel better so....
