Get yourself one of these tools.

Best $20 bucks I ever spent. First year I did my canvas was in the cold and I wore my fingers raw trying to get the canvas up. Found this tool and wow, what a difference. Even in very cold weather you get such a good grip and leverage makes putting the canvas on a piece of cake.

I figure this project will cost about $2800 by the time I'm done. Considering the price I got for Soda blasting alone was $2450 and then I would still need to sand and paint I'll go my way. The yard said he would have charge $125. per foot this would have had to wait a year or two. Hopefully it will come out OK and I'll be happy.

Dave I think when I figure what it cost to redo the bottom I came up with these numbers

Bottom 660 square ft. Approx

Sodablasting - 1800-2000
Barrier coating - Coverage 240sq ft. 10 gls $700
Micron Extra - Coverage 440 sq ft. 6-7gls 3 coats $1260
cleaners - $100
Total - approx 4500

That's almost as much as it cost for your light-up name on your transom!

Mike I could not read your post due to my eyes are still blinded from those transom lights (HaHa)

Todd, you need to wear welders goggles when you are withing 100' of them!

Bob you are right on with your numbers just not what I was expecting. Times like this I miss my old boat, $100 for a can of paint and about 4 hours of elbow grease. This is a whole new league. It will all over soon and then I'll hardly even remember while I'm drink T & T and floating in my slip because I have no money left for fuel. OK maybe I will remember.

Butch, remember the night we were at the dock and we thought Indian Point had blown up?

Well, that was just Bob turning on his lights!

Just when I thought I was out of this thread....

You are all in my trance, You will supply me with Beer, Vodka, and Rum all summer long.

Mike, John and Todd,
So when are you ordering yours.
Just remeber I love you all......

Bob - That's really nice. This summer I was thinking of putting my boat in the river. I was worried about getting lost but now when I pass Kingston I'll just look for the blue beacon.

Rob, you said your drives are painted, do you pull them every year?

Well if it were my choice they would just stay on. Unfortunately Volvo has other ideas because the bellows keeps failing and need to be reoplaced every season or so.

I painted the drives on the boat.

That's a shame. My boat is 7 years old now (twin VP 4.3)had no problem with bellows.

I think I might paint mine myself this year too. I have saved a ton of money doing some of my own work this year.

I don't!! Think it's awful Rob has so many problems with them. Mine are the originals
