Where did the water go?

Went to the boat today to check on the build up of ice after this weekends storm and while driving along the river it was hard to notice that the river was missing A LOT of water!

You could see land roughly 200' feet out from River RD in Stony Point. (The section between the curve by Parrot Bay and Haverstraw North Gate)

The bay itself had visible land about 25% of the way out to the main river. Boats still in the water at the local marinas were on the bottom in the mud.

Never seen it so low! Unfortunately I left my camera at home today...
 
Alot of times a good noreaster will hold the tide out and we get these extreme low conditions...Several years ago we had a and b dock out of the water.
 
Wha? Even an hour before high tide yesterday it was above normal from where we sit.
 
They usually lower it at this time of year, that way they have enough during the summer.
 
Is this how they can find all the stuff people dropped in Croton during the year? I got dibs on the Craftsman #2 Phillips head screwdriver.
 
See if you can find my anchor, my grill, my wife's engagement diamond, and my buddies $400 sunglasses.
 
A strong northwest wind might have an impact too - my friend Mark and I learned a few years ago that down in NJ strong westerly winds can lower the level of Barnegat Bay some 2 feet. We found this out when we ended up stuck in the mud in the middle of the channel.

I'm sure the salt/brackish water desolves most of the caps.

Chicken wings. While down in the BVI a couple of weeks ago, we overnighted in the "Bight". There is a boat there called the Willey T, and they serve wings. When people are done they throw the extras over and you should see what comes up to grab it, and what grabs the grabber of the left overs!
