Which marina in Greenport?

I'm planning on going to Greenport this summer and since I've never docked there, which marina is best to stay at? I would like to stay close to town if possible.

We've had many discussions about this topic. New town docks are reported to be nice but a little rocky. Townsends has a pool and is a short walk.
 
Brewers Stirling Harbor is very nice, as well. What are you looking for?

We have been to both and though the town dock is in town the rocking is not where it's at - Townsends is a better choice and a very short walk to town.
 
I'm looking for something close to town, not too rocky, and decent bathroom/shower facilities.
 
We concur as well. The place across from Townsend has a nice restaurant (at least it did some time ago). If you have a dink it doesn't matter much where you stay. At Townsend you will be jammed in close together though.
But the walk from there to town is easy enough and probably the shortest.
 
You're thing about Stirling Harbor right Dan?

I've stayed there and it was nice.

A larger marina than TOwnsends.
 
Sounds like Townsends is where its at. I like the location of the Town Marina, but if it gets rocky there, forget about it. How far in advance do I need to make reservations there?

I only stay at the town dock. I have a 26 foot cruiser, so I al ways get a slip closest to the shore. I think its c dock. No rocking problems there. How big is your boat?
 
If you don't have a dink, Townsends would be the choice. If you have a dink, I would stay at Stirling Harbor, it is much cleaner and nicer. They have a pool and a restuarant. There is a seafood store right across the channel.
 
I don't have a dink. My boat is only 25' so maybe the Town dock will be ok if I get a slip close to shore as 248vista suggested. Do they have water/electric and bathroom facilities at the town dock?
 
I recommend Townsend, it may be a little older and tight docking, but overall it has a lot to offer. Its close to town has a pool and restaurant and very weather protected.

Also is close to the hospital in case you stub your toe…

Mitchell Park is a great set up. They are concrete floating docks, water and electricand you can pick up wifi from one of the coffe shops if you use a laptop. Walk right to everything, Claudio is right there and no waiting for a shuttle to pick you up. Sterling is a really nice yard, but the smaller boats usually get tucked way out back. Its kinda dark and buggy back there. The rest rooms are really nice at the Town Docks as well. Also the dock master, Bumpy, yes thats what they call him, is really nice. The only negative I found about staying at the town dock is at 6 am when the ferries fire up, there is a slight humming that transfers into the boat. No worse than your fridge running though. If you have kids or dogs its a great place too.
If you have a grill, walk over to Alices fish market and get some awesome seafood to throw on it. Get there early though. The IGA in town is really close as well.
 
Just to make sure I understand this correctly, Mitchell Park is the Town marina and is in the heart of Greenport, closest to Claudios and other shops in Greenport? That is what I'm looking for as long as we're not rock n rollin all night.
