Sunday a Pot Luck was held to benefit a popular bartender who was in an automobile accident and broke her pelvis in three different places. She will not be able to work for several months and has no "safety net" to help her survive financially until she can get back to work.
So her current employer decided to try to raise funds to help her during this time. Well, close to a hundred people showed up. A band volunteered to play some nice country music. The restaurant owner at The Landing Bar & Grill provided the meat [bbq ribs, chicken and tritip] and everyone brought a side dish. A raffle and a silent auction were held. I estimate $1000 was raised. 100% of the money raised went to the injured bartender.
Folks of all walks of life attended: rich; retired; employed; unemployed; fishermen; boaters; yacht club members; other restaurant workers and restaurant owners. Everyone gathered with one purpose in mind: to help raise funds for a fellow Bethel Islander who needed our help.
It was a great party; everyone seemed to have a good time; I might have some pictures to post later this week.
Don't sell BI short!
