Windlass maintenance

I have a Simpson Lawrence windlass, version V700 I believe. It looks like the one in the pic below.

In 9 years, I have not done any maintenance. In order to pull or deploy the anchor, I must have tension on the line or the rode slips. Is this simply because the line is getting worn or should I be doing some maintenance? There seems to be a "finger" that seats the line, perhaps the spring ins worn?

Any suggestions? I'd hate to lose this bad boy.

Try to adjust the clutch it would likely only be a very small adjustment that will make a huge difference. It sounds like it is slipping if you notice in the picture there is a black spring loaded tensioner make sure it is free and maintains tension on the rope it may have a little dirt or salt preventing it from moving freely. I don't think you have anything major to worry about!

You need that star keyed handle to adjust the clutch.

Does it have both chain and rope and if so does the chain slip? If only the rope, you probably need to replace as they do tend to slip once worn but agree with Dave, it is most likely a clutch adjustment.
